Partnering with DigiKey
ISL Products joined the DigiKey marketplace in Spring of 2020. Since then we have had tremendous success at supplying our various DC motors, DC gear motors and our other unique components to prominent customers early on in their development phase.
The DigiKey marketplace has allowed us to expand our customer base and increase our accessibility to not only well known companies; but to colleges & universities, laboratories, and even the average hobbyist tinkering at home.
We first set up our supplier page with 15 product offerings, consisting primarily of brushed DC gear motors. Now, we have over 90 product offerings with ample inventory to fully showcase our standard product offering. This allows us to streamline our customers’ proof of concept stage during the R&D process, prior to application tailoring.
In this time we have sold nearly 3,000 items to 205 unique customers all over the world. Let’s see how that breaks down.
Domestic Market / United States
DigiKey Marketplace has allowed customers from all over the united states to access our product offerings, keeping FedEx busy! We have received over 200 domestic orders from clients in 35 states! Our customer base extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean and everywhere in between.
Interacting with these customers has been invaluable. The analytics and conversations with these customers have allowed us to understand what segments of our business we should expand and what items engineers are most interested in. Our brushless motors, brushless drivers, and high-torque gear motors have been incredibly popular.
More recently our expansion into several gear motor designs has brought a lot of attention to our supplier page, and we plan to expand this further in the near future.
International Market
With the expansion of the DigiKey Marketplace into international markets, our customer reach is not only limited to the US! We have now sent orders to 14 different countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. This has not only allowed us to supply our components to prominent companies, but also research prestigious institutes and even museums!
Making our component available through DigiKey’s various country specific,international websites, doesn’t just help foreign companies access our component. This availability also allows international subsidiaries of American companies to prototype with the value added components from ISL Products during the development stage of their applications.

U.S. Government Labs
Some of our more unique customers through the DigiKey marketplace are government laboratories and research facilities. DigiKey is an approved supplier to many of these organizations, allowing us to piggy-back on this relationship and supply components at a competitive rate without going through the nuances of setting up a new vendor.
So far more than six different government labs have ordered our components, with a few of them placing repeat orders. Not only are we excited to provide them with value-added components that can further their research, we also get the bonus excitement of reading their press releases and news stories learning exactly where our components fit in!
Colleges and Universities
Most colleges and universities across the globe seem to have DigiKey on their preferred supplier list. To date we have sent orders to more than 20 colleges and universities around the world. It’s exciting to see our DC gear motors and audio components being used by students working on such a diverse array of projects. Some of these projects include robotics groups, medical researchers, and an assortment of undergraduate studies.

With the strong interest from students around the globe, we started our Educational Outreach program to connect directly to students working in the robotics and automation spaces. With a mix of educational design notes, consultation with our engineers, and student discounts we have made a commitment to bettering the landscape for the next wave of engineers.
Plans for the Future
