Spur Gear Motors
ISL Products offers compact and economical DC Spur Gear Motors to meet your application needs. We can design and manufacture both the DC motor and spur gearhead together for the best solution. These motors are cost-effective and reliable for applications with lower torque and speed requirements. With a range of reduction ratios, precision-cut gears, voltages, and sizes available, ISL Products has a spur gear motor suited to meet your application requirements.
An ISL spur gearmotor features one of our, many types of, dc motors coupled with one of our unique spur gearheads. The internal construction of our spur gearhead consists of straight-toothed, inter-meshed gears that control the torque and speed output of the gear motor. The gear train consists of large and small gears mounted on parallel shafts that are offset from each other. As the smaller gears mesh with the larger gears, it reduces and transforms speed into torque. The gear train arrangement of a spur gearhead is designed to hold all of the load on a single point of contact between the two gears; adding more gears lowers output speed and increases output torque.

More about Spur Gear Motors
A Spur Gear Motor from ISL Products features one of our various types of direct current motors coupled with one of our robust gear heads. When you couple a DC motor with a spur gearbox, a speed reduction will occur, creating more torque output at the output shaft. A Spur gear system consists of several straight-cut or helical-cut gears that mesh against each other to increase continuous torque at the output motor shaft.
Spur gear motors are much simpler than their counterpart, planetary gear motors. In a spur gear electric motor, the gearing is different in that each gear only has one contact point with the next gear. To increase the gear ratio more stacks of gears are added together. Learn more about spur gear motors vs. planetary gear motors by reading our intuitive design note.
Our wide range of spur dc gear motors offer economical options for your applications, no mater the gear reduction ratio. Our internal gear spur motors are available in both permanent magnet brush motors and brushless motor options. They typically range in diameter from 40mm down to micro dc gear motors of 10mm. We also manufacture pear shaped spur gear motors for applications with space constraints.
ISL Products has been a top gear motor manufacturer for decades. If you need a more custom solution just let us know because our capabilities are endless. Standard options are available and in stock as well.
Spur Gear Motors FAQ's
-
A spur gear motor is a type of gear motor that uses spur gears, which are the most common type of gear used in transmission systems. Spur gears have straight teeth that are parallel to the gear axis, giving them the ability to transmit motion and power efficiently. Spur gear motors are often used in applications where high torque and precision are required, such as in robotics, industrial machinery, and automotive systems. They are known for their simplicity, reliability, and compact size.
